I have a year’s experience as a junior designer working in 3D design at Pentagram and have recently graduated from Leeds University with First Class honours in Product Design. During my studies I continued to freelance at Pentagram in the holidays., Working in Daniel Weil’s team at Pentagram, I was involved in product, packaging and exhibition design projects, multi-tasking workstreams simultaneously. This started as a trial for a year in industry and became full-time employment with a graduate level contract. My role as a junior designer required me to work in a multi-disciplinary team consisting of architects and graphic, industrial and interior designers., I was exposed to a broad variety of clients from multinational corporations to SMEs. This ranged from an American telecommunications conglomerate where I worked in collaboration with our New York office and was responsible for developing packaging designs and strategy presentations for projects with vast budgets and narrow margins, to designing short production run contemporary chess sets for a client with a niche customer base. A project where I was involved in ideation and design through to final product, briefing manufacturers and suppliers to organise production and delivery to the client., Since graduating, I represented my University at the New Designers Exhibition at the Business Design Centre and for my final year project received one of nine special commendation awards from Lego amongst the 1, 500 exhibitors (https://noahsegal5.wixsite.com/design please see New Designers 2019)., Through my work at Pentagram, my strategic thinking, technical skills and design communication increased dramatically. Consequently, I have finessed my process of design development from concept sketching to CAD modelling in Solidworks or Rhino to technical drawings or 3D visualisation in Keyshot or Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop.
